Austin Dumpster Rental Company AYD Waste Services Provides Construction Recycling for Record Breaking High Rise Construction

At Your Disposal (AYD) Waste Services, an Austin dumpster rental and construction recycling company, is providing waste management for the construction of The Independent, a new highrise that will soon be the tallest residential tower east of the Mississippi.

The city of Austin is a leader in green building and sustainability programs. At Your Disposal (AYD) Waste Services is actively involved in this movement, providing waste management and construction recycling services to both residential and commercial construction projects that meet or exceed the city’s sustainability standards. Austin’s most exciting new construction development is The Independent, a $300 million mixed-use condominium tower. Once complete, it will be the tallest residential tower east of the Mississippi River. AYD has been chosen to handle waste management and recycling throughout the duration of the tower’s construction.

AYD Waste Services is dedicated to participating in Austin’s green building initiatives; on average they are able to recycle 98 percent of construction debris. Dubbed the “Jenga Tower” due to it’s unique, staggering architecture, The Independent is a Gold LEED certified project. The LEED green building system is used to make sure projects have minimal environmental impact in both a building’s design as well as the construction process. For this tower, AYD is providing 20, 30 and 40 yard roll-off dumpsters and frequent hauling to nearby sorting facilities. They provide thorough documents tracking waste removal and evidence about how much waste is being diverted from landfills, a vital step in making sure the construction of this tower meets Gold LEED requirements.

“The construction of The Independent is an exciting milestone in Austin’s efforts to create an ecologically responsible area downtown where people live, work and play,” expressed Chuck Herb, owner of AYD Waste Services. “We take pride in being a part of such a monumental project, and look forward to seeing the area grow and thrive.”

The tower will be the final piece of the redevelopment of the Seaholm Power Plant and Thomas C. Green Water Treatment Plant, a project aimed at revitalizing a once dormant part of downtown, and turning it into a vibrant new live-work-play district.

The Independent will tower over Austin at 685 feet tall. The 58-story building will be comprised of 370 luxury condos, amenities, office and retail space. There will be two floors of amenities, including a dog park, pool, fitness center, yoga studio, club rooms, business centers, conference rooms, sky lounges, theaters, guest suites, children’s activity center, and more. Over $2 billion in public and private funding is being channeled into the area as a result of this development. After construction is completed, property taxes generated will be partially apportioned to Austin’s affordable housing trust. The groundbreaking for the project took place on January 11, and is scheduled to be complete in 2018.
